Shell Vacations Execs Raise Funds for Charities of Choice

Northbrook, Illinois — July 28, 2011 – Through Shell Vacations Club (SVC) company-wide charitable giving initiative, SVCares (Community Awareness Raised by Employees of Shell Vacations), Shell employees within each region select local charities to support in a variety of ways. In addition, Shell Vacations employees have personal charities of choice that they donate their time and effort to support.

President and Chief Operating Officer Tracy L. Sherles, is passionate about the Community Partners’ Autism organization. Her home town area has a higher than national average percentage of children with autism. For the sixth consecutive year, they have organized a Golf Tournament and Silent Auction for Autism, where this year over one hundred golfers teamed up on Saturday, July 9, at The Oaks Golf Links in Somersworth, New Hampshire and raised more than $10,000 for the local nonprofit organization. New Hampshire native Sherles also participated as a player in the event. “The Community Partners organization has helped many local families,” commented Sherles. “We are proud to be able to give back to this organization so they can continue in their humanitarian efforts for members of our New Hampshire community.”

Once again, Shell Vacations Club was the Platinum Sponsor of the tournament. In addition to a substantial donation, Shell Vacations provided prizes for the live auction, including two seven-night vacation stays at selected company vacation ownership properties, to be chosen by the winners. Proud to serve once again as a tournament sponsor, Shell Vacations owns the local historic Crotched Mountain Resort, located in Francestown, New Hampshire, which has 24 vacation ownership units in two-story buildings, as well as a clubhouse, spa, pool and recreation center.

According to the event chairperson, Jackie Horne, all proceeds from the tournament and auction were donated to the Family Support division of the Community Partners’ Autism Fund. Overseen by the Family Advisory Council, the Family Support Program provides an array of support to families including respite, recreation, information and resources, advocacy, parent-to-parent support, transition to adult services, and opportunities for families to spend time together, plus attend workshops or other trainings.

Shell Vacations Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sheldon H. Ginsburg is active in the Canine Companions for Independence ® (CCI) and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Explains Ginsburg, “Besides always wanting to assist those not as fortunate as us, my wife and I are animal (and specifically dog) lovers. We actively support these charities as they provide support to both of those passions”. CCI is a national non-profit organization that provides highly-trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to individuals with physical disabilities to assist with daily tasks and increase independence by reducing reliance on other people. A Service Dog can pull their partner in a manual wheelchair, push buttons for elevators or automatic doors, turn on lights, pick up dropped keys, open a door and even assist with business transactions by transferring money, receipts, and packages. Ginsburg and his wife are attending the annual CCI “Day at the Races” on August 6th which is a fund raising event at the track with silent auctions as well as demonstrating puppies in training.

The Guide Dogs for the Blind are specially trained to assist a person who is blind with mobility. The dog is trained to lead, obey commands, avoid distractions, and disobey a command if it would put them in danger. On October 1, 2011 the Guide Dogs for the Blind will have their ninth annual Canine Heroes Wine Auction. Shell Vacations’ will host attendees at their Vino Bello Resort® in Napa, California. The proceeds from this event will go toward supporting annual veterinary costs of $3 million for 4,200 program dogs and puppies. Festivities include a silent auction, reception (featuring multiple Napa Valley chefs and wineries), live auction and four-course gourmet dinner.

Honored as a Highly Rated Hotel as Reviewed by Travelers on the World’s Largest Travel Site

Shell Vacations Hospitality Earns “Best in Show” Spectrum Award from AMA Phoenix for the Black Friday Travel Sale & Scavenger Hunt

Shell Vacations Hospitality, with Partners HeBS Digital and BLAZE PR, wins “Best in Show” Spectrum Award

Phoenix, AZ.  June 16, 2011-Shell Vacations Hospitality announces receipt of the “Best in Show” Spectrum Award from AMA Phoenix, for the “12 Days Before Black Friday Travel Sale & Scavenger Hunt”. The multi-channel marketing campaign, launched together with Shell Vacations Hospitality partners Hospitality eBusiness Strategies (HeBS Digital) and BLAZE PR, also won in the following categories at the 2011 Spectrum Awards:

The “12 Days Before Black Friday Travel Sale & Scavenger Hunt” microsite, designed by HeBS Digital, launched on October 31, 2010. The daily scavenger hunt ran for 12 days leading up to Black Friday. A collaborative effort by all three companies, the campaign was a resounding success in terms of revenue, viral buzz and media coverage. Historically a slow booking period for hoteliers, the sale generated over 2,000% ROAS, significantly added to Shell Vacations Hospitality’s social media following, and increased the brand’s email and mobile opt-in lists. BLAZE PR secured campaign coverage on, AOL Travel Online,, Budget Travel,, and more.

Consumers were requested to spread word of the sale through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg and YouTube. Daily prizes included single-night complimentary stays in Las Vegas, given to 12 winners on the 12th day, five-night stays at any Shell Vacations Hospitality resort, and more. The grand prize was a five-night stay at a beachfront resort in Kauai, including an airfare voucher. The grand prize was awarded at random to one of the entrants who collected all 12 clues by returning to the interactive site each day.
