Shell Hospitality Incorporates Suite of SynXis Solutions, Boosts GDS Bookings by Over 40%

Shell Vacations Hospitality, a collection of 23 upscale international timeshare properties, needed a solution to help streamline their reservations process.  Shell chose SynXis for its comprehensive CRS solutions to increase revenues and drive down overall costs.


    •    Taking advantage of the growing online distribution channel

    •    Reservation calls were going to individual properties and were not always efficient

    •    With a timeshare business model, owners lose money when rooms go unused so it is critical that                   rooms can sell quickly.

    •    Needed to have high conversion rates from prospects

    •    Re-launched website with the SynXis booking engine

    •    Routed all phone calls to SynXis Call Center, available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

    •    Added SynXis’ GDS Marketing with Sabre’s Hotel Spotlight, a service that strategically positions                       properties on a travel agent’s shopping screens

    •    Implement Property Connect, the 2-way PMS interface between Opera and RedX

    •    GDS bookings for same store sales increased by over 40% year over year

    •    New SynXis booking engine helped increase website sales by over 46% on same store year over year               sales

    •    The SynXis Call Center increased call conversions each month, and is now at over 16% conversion                   rates.

    •    2-way Property Connect scheduled for November 2008, to provide a true single-image of inventory at           each property, in real-time.

Base Currently At 108cms/43” – A Great Leg Up On The Season

WHISTLER, BC, November 14, 2007 – An intense storm system that dropped over 80cms of snow on Whistler Blackcomb earlier this week has prompted mountain managers to open Whistler Mountain almost a week early. Blackcomb Mountain will open as planned on Thursday, November 22.

“We have a great leg up on the season,” says Doug MacFarlane, Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Manager. “Natural snowfall and our snowmaking efforts have allowed for the early opening on Whistler Mountain that skiers and riders have been hoping for.”

Weather forecasters are predicting that this is only the beginning of a period of snowy, stormy weather for the mountain. is reporting low pressure over the Gulf of Alaska meaning plenty of cold and more snow for Whistler into next week.  Whistler Mountain will open on Saturday with access from the Whistler Village and Creekside base areas. The Whistler Village Gondola, Creekside Gondola, the Emerald Express, Franz’s Chair and the Big Red Express are all scheduled to open.  The resort’s fleet of grooming machines will be hard at work this week preparing the slopes for skiers and riders.  Guests should be aware that early season conditions will exist on and off-site and caution should be exercised when venturing beyond the ropes.  A rail park will be set up in the Emerald Express Habitat Park area.  Jumps, more rails and other terrain park features will be added as the snow falls and more terrain is opened.  Blackcomb Mountain will open on Thursday November 22.  Guest Relations locations at Creekside, Village Gondola and the Blackcomb Daylodge will be open and ready to assist passholders and guests.  To keep up to date on snowfall and terrain and lift openings, skiers and riders should check out
