The 85-Hour Sale begins on August 5, 2011 at midnight and ends on August 8, 2011 at 1pm EST. Studio rooms with a kitchen will be available for $85* a night for stays Sunday through Thursday. There are no blackout dates, but space is limited. To book, please visit or call 1-877-499-7163.

“An 85th anniversary like this doesn’t come around very often,” said Sue Kelley, president for Shell Vacations Hospitality. “Inn at the Park is a very special place and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the hotel’s rich history with our guests and the community.”

Inn at the Park guests and San Diego locals are invited to take advantage of a variety of nightly entertainment events including Saturday’s cabaret singing extraordinaire and Monday’s interactive Karaoke night at the property’s award-winning Inn at the Park Restaurant & Piano Bar and Top of the Park Penthouse Restaurant.

Created by Frank P. Allen, Jr., the Inn at the Park opened as the Park Manor Suites apartment building in 1926 in Balboa Park West. Originally from Michigan, Allen moved to San Diego in 1911 to design buildings and landscape for the Panama California Exposition, an endeavor that created the famous Balboa Park. His love of San Diego was born with the Exposition project, and by 1925, Allen decided to build an apartment and hotel complex on a coveted piece of land at the western edge of Balboa Park, now part of the vibrant Hillcrest neighborhood.

“The building itself has been designed throughout by F.P. Allen, one of San Diego’s leading architects,” read the San Diego Union newspaper on August 14, 1925, “who has made visits to all parts of the county to study similar projects and to learn everything possible about the design and construction of such a building as Park manor is to be, combining all possible desirable features and eliminating all undesirables.”

In 1991 Park Manor Suites was declared a Historic Site of San Diego, and is praised for its grand appearance and beautiful interior. The hotel kept the original footprint of the suites that Allen so artfully designed with grandeur and design details that are rarely found today. With suites ranging from 525 to 1,100 square feet, including 9 ft. ceilings and large sash windows, guests can be transported to an earlier time.

The historic hotel features 75 well-appointed units—a combination of studio, one and two-bedroom suites. Each suite offers guests comfy, Sealy Posturpedic beds; crisp white duvets and linens; period furnishings and clean, modern kitchenettes, making Inn at the Park travelers’ true home-away-from-home in San Diego.

In May 2011, Shell Vacations Hospitality, featuring a collection of 25 unique resorts in major travel destinations throughout the world, acquired Inn at the Park to its portfolio of vacation rental properties.
