Events at Orange Tree Golf Resort

Three of today’s most distinctive vocalists will perform together, for the first time, in John Cage’s Song Books: Jessye Norman, with her ability to project drama through her vocal range; Meredith Monk, whose unprecedented exploration of the voice as an instrument has defied categorization; and Joan La Barbara, whose vocabulary of experimental techniques has often been used to champion Cage’s work. Cowell, in his Piano Concerto, chooses to treat the piano as much as a percussive instrument as a melodic one, in characteristic Cowell fashion.  Jeremy Denk performs the three movements, entitled “Polyharmony," "Tone Cluster," and "Counter Rhythm.”
