The Cable Car Museum provides not only a historical perspective of the importance of the cable car to San Francisco, but an insight into the daily operations of today's system. The Museum, located in the Washington and Mason cable car barn and powerhouse, is free and is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (October through March to 5:00 p.m.).
