Day trips to Mexico and the historic towns of Tombstone and Bisbee provide a taste of the Old West for true adventure seekers. Tubac's artist community is located 45 minutes south of the resort for fine arts shopping. Wherever you go or whatever you do, the relaxing luxury of your suite is waiting when you return.

Starr Pass now offers weekly activities provided by Jodie our Activity Director. Every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings, Jodie entertains guests with her signature Nature Walk and Art Under the Umbrella. At 7am Jodie begins the Nature Walk by taking guests through the resort and neighboring trails, while pointing out Tucson’s flora and fauna. At 9:30am, Art Under the Umbrella begins and Jodie helps guests to paint, decorate, and create a wide range of arts and crafts with a southwest flair. These crafts include creating wind chimes, necklaces, walking sticks, flagstone art, and many more made from materials found in the Sonoran Desert.

Experience a stunning limestone cave in Southeastern Arizona that boasts world-class features.Kartchner Caverns State Park, discovered in 1974, is host to a wide variety of unique minerals and formations. Water percolates from the surface and calcite formations continue to grow, including stalactites dripping down like icicles and giant stalagmites reaching up from the ground. Tour guides will unveil this fascinating underground landscape during a memorable 1½ hour tour.

Saguaro National Park is home to one of the largest Saguaro forests in the world. Not only will you get a chance to see these giants whose silhouettes characterize the desert landscape, but abundant sonoran wildlife will also add to your experience. http://www.nps.gov/sagu/

Sabino Canyon is the highlight of any Tucson experience. Hiking this large chasm in the Santa Catalina Mountains will lead you to Seven Falls, a magnificent oasis at the end of a six mile hike. Shuttle and Tram rides are also available by reservation. (520)-749-8700

Kitt Peak is home to the world's largest collection of optical telescopes, and is located high above the Sonoran Desert under some of the finest night skies. Kitt Peak, on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, is home to twenty-four optical and two radio telescopes representing eight astronomical research institutions.

Tombstone, made famous for the 1881 shootout at the O.K. Corral, is a short 1 hour drive. You can enjoy shopping, shootout reenactments and horse drawn carriage tours of this colorful old west town. http://www.tombstone.org/

When Richard Starr carved a trail through the rugged Tucson Mountains, the legend of Starr Pass began.  A true desert course, the Starr Pass Golf Course uses the rugged desert nature as natural hazards, while simultaneously showcasing majestic vistas of the Catalina Mountains.

Starr Pass was selected by PGA Tour Commissioner, Dean Beaman as he was inspired by the natural beauty and rugged terrain.  With the help of renowned Golf Course Designer, Bob Cupp, and PGA Tour Professional, Craig Stadler, they helped create a world class TPC Golf Facility. Starr Pass hosted the annual Tucson Open between 1987 and 1996. During that time, the third (#3 Rattler) and fifth hole (#5 Rattler) were rated two of the most difficult holes on the PGA Tour with the average score for 18 holes ranking among the highest on tour as well. Legends such as Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, Payne Stewart and Nancy Lopez, to name a few, have all carved their way through this historic golf course.

A 27-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Facility with a double-loaded driving range, relaxing 20,000 square foot clubhouse and top-quality pro shop await you at the Starr Pass Tucson Golf Club.

University of Arizona students may receive the Twilight Rate at anytime. Tee times may be booked by students who show a current/valid U of A form of identification at check-in. Tee times may be booked no more than three days in advance.

Canyon Course

Golf Magazine awarded this Tom Fazio designed course which winds its way through the Esperero Canyon at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains a “Silver Medal”.  The canyon course takes full advantage of the natural desert landscape of the foothills, and is part of a 600 acre preserve.

Mountain Course

The Mountain Course at Ventana Canyon winds its way up into the surrounding Santa Catalina Mountains and curves down through Sabino Canyon.  The most incredible hole is the par 3 which shows golfers awe-inspiring views of the nearby canyon.

Vistoso, designed by Tom Weiskoph is a true desert-style course, with bermuda grass greens and surrounded by the Sonoran Desert.  In the distance in all directions are the beautiful Santa Catalina and Tortalita Mountains.
