Big Island Activities and Things to Do

The Big Island is a unique and exciting place to visit. Surf crystalline tropical waters in the morning and snow-ski on breathtaking Mauna Kea in the afternoon. Visit an active volcano from on the ground or above in a small plane. Hike in a tropical rainforest. Explore thousand year old lava tubes and witness a fiery spectacular of fresh lava spilling into the ocean. Hang with the “big fish” – the waters off the coast are known for some of the best sport fishing in the world. Or take part in the many exciting events and activities that occur year round on the Big Island. There are ten world-class golf courses within a few minutes drive. At the resort, enjoy tennis or a game of horse shoes, swimming, spa, exercise facility, barbequing, and on-site activities such as Hula lessons, Hawaiian arts and crafts, and so much more.

Here are just a few of the wide variety of activities and tours to enjoy during your time on the Big Island:

Parker Ranch
Parker Ranch is one of the oldest ranches in the United States. Spreading approximately 150,000 acres of the Big Island, Hawaii, Parker Ranch is also one of the country’s largest cattle ranches. Parker Ranch offers opportunities for visitors to learn more about the history and culture of the Ranch by visiting the Parker Ranch Visitor Center and Museum and Historic Homes or take a Wagon Ride with Kohala Carriages to one of our oldest stone corrals. For more information, call (808) 885-5898

Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area
Hapuna Beach has something for everyone—shore breaks for body boarders, fish for anglers, and in summer, calm water for swimmers. Diving schools coax novices into the shimmering sea. A one-half mile long band of white sand that is over 200 feet wide in the summer months plus clean, clear water would describe anyone’s perfect imaginary beach.
