Climb To New Heights

South Mountain Park – 48th Street Access

The Pima Canyon area of the South Mountain preserve offers multiple hiking routes, including the Desert Classic Trail and East and West Loop trails. These trails are easy to reach from our hotel. 

Papago Park

Length: 4 miles
Approximate Hiking Time: 1-2 hours

This beginner-friendly hiking trail offers a number of wildlife-viewing opportunities, despite its rather urban location. The trail cuts through the beautiful Papago Buttes.

"A" Mountain

Sometimes known as Hayden Butte or Tempe Butte, “A” Mountain is one of the top locations for exceptional and convenient Phoenix, AZ hiking. The mountain features breathtaking views and proximity to nearby Arizona State University.

Camelback Mountain

Length: 2.2 miles
Approximate Hiking Time: 1-3 hours

Two different routes, Echo Canyon and Cholla trail, lead to the 2,680-ft summit, offering different challenges and excellent views of the vast Phoenix landscape.

Piestewa (Squaw) Peak

Length: 2 miles
Approximate Hiking Time: 1-3 hours

The busy trail up to the summit of Piestewa Peak attracts hikers, walkers, sightseers and runners alike.

Shaw Butte with Towers

Length: 4.5 miles
Approximate Hiking Time: 1-3 hours

Located near Heritage Highlands, the trail includes various points of interest, including the Radio Towers and the old Cloud 9 restaurant.

Mormon Trail to Hidden Valley

Length: 4.2 miles
Approximate Hiking Time: 2-4 hours

Located near Citrus Hills, the trail offers interesting tunnels, dry waterfalls and much more for exciting hikes.
